DIY Christmas Decorations

Hey Tiny Home lovers, its that time of year again! Our community is fully embracing the holiday season this year, and what better way to do that than to make some Christmas decorations! These choices will be budget friendly and have all of your family and friends complimenting your taste!

First up, the wreath. This is the first thing you and your guests will notice upon entering your tiny home, so it better look amazing! What you’ll need: Styrofoam base, any type of fabric, straight pins, embellishments of your choosing. This is a pretty simple craft, take your base and wrap your choice of fabric around, using the straight pins to hold it in place. Then, take your embellishments (ornaments, fake cranberries, garland, etc.) and go crazy! This will be your custom masterpiece!

Next, lets do a simple, yet powerful addition to make your home even cozier. Soft lights! What youll need: Large glass cylinder vases, remote battery-operated twinkle lights, pine cones. Take your vase and lay the battery box of the lights at the base. Add a few pine cones, then weave the lights around them. Repeat this process until you have a full vase. Cozy up in your tiny home at night to enjoy the delicate light that this diy brings in!

Finally, lets keep up with the current trend with…a dried orange garland! This will not only look amazing, but it will also make your home smell wonderful making it. What you’ll need: 8 oranges, knife, cutting board, baking sheets, floral wire, scissors. Slice up your oranges into thin, round pieces. Lay them on your baking sheet and stick them in the oven at 250 degrees. Every 30 minutes, flip your orange slices. Repeat this until your oranges have cooked for three hours. After letting them cool, and toss any burnt ones. Using the floral wire, poke each orange slice through the front center of the orange and then the back center of the next orange. Continue this pattern until you have the length that you want! This looks great to hang anywhere, especially in addition with any other garland!

Use these three holiday DIYs to spice up your tiny space this Christmas! Post any pictures of your work with the hashtag #tinychristmas. Happy Holidays from our tiny community!
